#7. This ⛰️Mountainous Japanese Onsen Town is a Mecca For ♨️Relaxation & 💔Romance

Just one hour from Tokyo, Hakone is a picturesque, mountainous onsen town with stunning views of the ethereal stratovolcano and sacred symbol of Japan, Mount Fuji, that makes for the ultimate traditional hot spring experience.

A once popular post station and security checkpoint established by the Tokugawa Shogunate, Hakone is a serene mountainous onsen and resort town in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park that gained popularity during the Meiji Period (1868-1912) amongst Tokyo’s upper class, politicians, and foreign dignitaries seeking tranquility with a touch of tradition.

As one of Japan’s de facto ‘hot springs capitals’, and the most visited national park in the country, Hakone now sees some twenty million tourists each year, both Japanese and foreign.

Note: I didn’t take any pictures in the actual onsen as it’s forbidden.
